On June 29th we were
120 miles from Wrangell. We all wanted to be there for the 4th
of July. Allowing for two stops and two days for weather, it was time to
leave Craig. You could easily spend a week in protected water before
reaching Sumner Strait. However, travel conditions were perfect. We
kept going. Halcyon was the first to reach Sumner and reported good
conditions. Wanderer and Rana Verde were not far
behind. The wind continued to abate and the water was glassy smooth as we
